UPDATE: Declaration of Competence renewal and COVID-19

Written by admin on Friday 15th May 2020

This is an important update relating to changes to the requirements to renew your Declaration of Competence (DoC) statement(s) for locally commissioned services in relation to COVID-19

Under usual circumstances, your statement of declaration for provision of services using the DoC system is valid for two years from the date of signing. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be an extension to all statements of declaration for locally commissioned services, for example Emergency contraception, until the end of September 2020.

Please note that these changes do not apply to the DoC for Vaccination services, which covers the Seasonal influenza vaccination advanced service.

On 14 April 2020, NHS England and NHS Improvement issued a statement concerning amendments to the training requirements and resources in preparation for the September 2020 Flu vaccination service. This includes information on face-to-face training, online training and the annual online refresher training.

For full details, please refer to the COVID-19 update (April 2020) on the PSNC website:

What does this mean for you?
If you have a Declaration of Competence statement for a locally commissioned service, which is due for renewal before the end of September 2020, you do not need to renew your declaration or sign your statement of declaration until 1 October 2020.
