Pharmacy Staff eligible for an NHS flu vaccine

The Frontline health and social care staff cohort has been expanded to include community pharmacy staff, dental staff and opticians staff

Please do not offer vaccinations to the expanded cohort until the updated PGD or Protocol is circulated. Expected shortly.

Staff employed by primary care contractors (community pharmacies, GP practices, dental services and ophthalmic services) are now eligible to have a flu vaccination via the NHS service. Non-clinical staff who are directly involved with the provision of NHS services on a day-to-day basis and who have face-to-face contact with patients are also eligible for the vaccination.

For further details read the NHSE&I Flu Letter 29th September 2021

If you have already vaccinated staff via other means (privately), NHSE&I has agreed you can claim for these vaccinations via the Advanced service claim on the NHSBSA’s Manage Your Service portal.

The service specification has been updated to include patient-facing staff of primary care contractors, including any locums.

Data collection requirements

You will need to keep a manual record of the number of primary care staff you vaccinate. Record the number of staff vaccinated from each of the four contractor groups separately. This will need to be recorded monthly on MYS. This is just for evaluation purposes and this data will not affect the claim for payment.

Here is a tally chart you can use to keep a manual count:
