Blood Pressure & Atrial Fibrillation Screening Project implemented in North-East Hampshire

Written by admin on Saturday 23rd March 2019

This project is running at targeted locations within the Frimley Integrated Care System (ICS) that are known to have high levels of deprivation and high risks of cardiovascular disease mortality

There are 35 pharmacies in total involved (details of the areas are shown in the project service spec (see below)

Community pharmacies are accessed by a large number of people on a daily basis and so screening here provides an excellent opportunity to screen and identify those with hypertension and atrial fibrillation, who are at risk of future cardiovascular events. These people are currently undiagnosed and hence when identified will be referred to their GP for further investigation, as well as provided with lifestyle intervention advice.

AF learning resources:

The Centre for Pharmacy Postgraduate Education (CPPE) is now offering an e-learning programme to help you prepare to offer an atrial fibrillation detection service in your pharmacy.
