Guidance for community pharmacies
Tuesday 7th July, from 19:00-20:15
UK Health Security Agency and NHS England will be jointly hosting a webinar to help community pharmacies prepare to deliver the new MenB vaccination service.
Following the unprecedented MenB outbreak in Kent in March 2026, and subsequent clusters in Weymouth and Reading, a new one-off MenB vaccination service has been introduced for those at highest risk. The aim is to vaccinate eligible individuals before the start of the 2026/2027 academic year and the peak season for MenB disease in autumn 2026.
Delivery of this programme will take place exclusively through participating Community Pharmacies.
The session will cover topics including:
- The background to the time-limited MenB vaccination offer and the eligible cohorts
- How to identify and support eligible individuals, including self-referrals from those entering higher education or residential further education (HERFE) for the first time
- Key operational information for community pharmacies, including contracting and delivery arrangements
- Information on the vaccination schedule and safe administration of the vaccines
- The legal framework for MenB vaccine administration
- Resources and materials available to support informed consent and programme delivery, and to help support delivery of an equitable vaccine offer
This webinar is aimed at professionals involved in the commissioning and delivery of the MenB vaccination offer, including:
- Community pharmacy contractors and their teams
- NHS England Regional Public Health Commissioning Teams
- Integrated Care Board (ICB) commissioners with responsibility for immunisation
- Other healthcare professionals involved in supporting the programme locally
