'Maximising the benefits of providing locally commissioned pharmacy services’ event hosted by Isle of Wight CCG

You will all be aware of the current pressures being encountered nationally on GP appointment availability, so better use of the Pharmacy First service locally is seen as a positive step we can take to help better manage patient flow we regard to minor conditions. The CCG and CPSC are both therefore very keen on promoting the Pharmacy First service to be used more widely and consistently across the whole island.

Training sessions have been occurring with GP receptionists from a number of practices to explain the service and promote sign-posting to community pharmacies rather than creating GP appointments where appropriate. As a result of these, we have developed some of the ideas and feedback provided to further update the service and resources available. We hope that the changes will very much be approved of by all healthcare professional and patients alike.

We now encourage all community pharmacy teams to come and hear about the changes made to Pharmacy First by attending this evening event on 18th July at St Mary's in Newport.
The evening is open to Pharmacists, Technicians, Dispensers and Healthcare Advisors who can all now provide this service.

Please confirm numbers for attendance with caroline.allen@iow.nhs.uk or telephone 554769
