VirtualOutcomes Training Programme planned for 2019

A quick heads up highlighting this years plans for the 2019 programme of activity funded for you again this year by CPSC

CPSC is pleased to confirm that it will continue to fund the VirtualOutcomes monthly training resources for all community pharmacies registered within Southampton, Hampshire, Isle of Wight and Portsmouth.

Usage continues to grow, as more and more pharmacies are giving the modules a try, finding them easy to use, most useful in up-skilling their teams and providing vital links to support the organised national health campaigns and other key activities in the year.

Don't forget, the training can be accessed from a variety of IT devices, including: computers, tablets and smartphones

Public Health Campaigns:

Following an announcement from the PSNC that they have agreed with NHS England to set the six national Public health campaigns topics at a national level this coming year (https://psnc.org.uk/services-commissioning/essential-services/public-health/), VirtualOutcomes are pleased to confirm their 2019 programme

They will have a training module available on each of the 6 topics prior to the start of the national campaign; to ensure that our pharmacy teams will have links to the necessary resources available. This will enable the building of great displays, as well as having better knowledge to support customers. For the full course list, please see the attached document

January: Cervical Cancer

2019 marks the 10th anniversary of Jade Goody’s death (March 2009) from cervical cancer and VirtualOutcomes are proud to announce that they are producing a FREE online training module on Cervical Cancer which is now available (this is in addition to the usual licensed course). This aims to help pharmacy teams increase awareness amongst both their customers; as well as their own friends and family. Survival rates from cervical cancer still continue to improve, however this is dependent on early detection and raising awareness[1].

VirtualOutcomes hope that by making this course available free to every pharmacy team in England, they will be able to positively impact screening. They are also delighted to announce that they will be donating 25p (minimum donation £500) for every course registration for the cervical cancer module to Cancer Research UK, so please do encourage your whole team to take part this month.

There are a number of national organisations supporting this topic in January, as well as a story line based on cervical cancer in one of the national soaps, so the profile will be quite high and may well prompt your customers to ask for more information from you as a result.

Other Topics:

During the rest of the year, VirtualOutcomes will continue to provide Public Health campaign training for the other months (outside of the National Campaigns) based around topics that correlate with National Awareness Days etc... as well as providing some additional pharmacy business topics; with courses on FMD and IG along with the introduction of clinical and registrant courses to broaden their range of topics.
