Reducing OTC Prescribing

Hampshire and Isle of Wight ICB have made a poster availablke that Community Pharmacies can use.
This will affect Frimley ICB as well as all ICB across the South East are looking at OTC prescribing.
Over the coming months Hampshire & Isle of Wight ICB Medicines Optimisation Team will be focusing on reducing prescribing for products available to be bought over the counter.
The main focus area for April – June 2025 will be Hayfever treatments.
Pharmacies may start to see more patients who previously had a prescription for hayfever treatments (tablets, nasal sprays, eye drops) but needing to purchase.
Some patients may be referred for the Pharmacy First Minor Illness Service for a consultation relating to hayfever.
