UPDATE: August 2018
The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has published a video to help healthcare professionals with implementing the new 2018 regulatory measures relating to valproate medicines, including the pregnancy prevention programme and regular patient reviews. This was produced by the MHRA in conjunction with the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) and the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP).
Information about the risks of taking valproate medicines during pregnancy, including the video, are available on the MHRA website.
The RPS Quick reference guide 'Dispensing valproate for girls and women' has been updated to reflect the new information and includes the video, and can be found on the RPS website.
