National roll-out of CDs in EPS

Written by admin on Thursday 28th February 2019

The roll out starts imminently for GP practices using SystmOne, Vision & EMIS. Find out what you need to do in preparation for switch on by reading the following PSNC & NHS England information....

Update from PSNC

The number of CD prescriptions that pharmacies receive via EPS will increase significantly as more GP practices have the functionality switched on

It is therefore important that all pharmacy staff; including locums, are aware of the roll-out. An electronic prescription for a Schedule 2 or 3 CD should be dispensed in the same way as any other electronic prescription.

Pharmacy teams may find it useful to check when the GP practices local to you are going live on NHS Digital's roll-out schedule on the NHS Digital website

  • For West Hampshire, South-East Hampshire, Fareham & Gosport, Isle of Wight, Portsmouth & Southampton CCGs, switch on is planned on SystmOne for 11th March 2019
  • Other areas using EMIS, switch on is planned from 25th March 2019 over a two-week period

Please note: Changes made will take account of the Pregabalin & Gabapentin Schedule 3 reclassification that will come into effect on 1st April 2019
