Hampshire County Council current suicide prevention training opportunities

Resources available for all staff

Hampshire County Council have a stepped model of suicide prevention training available. 

STEP 1: Access to useful awareness-raising/information sessions. More details about these offers in the enclosed Mental Health & Wellbeing Training Guide HCC-MH-and-Wellbeing-Training-Offer-Final.pdf (hants.gov.uk)

STEP 2: Suicide First Aid training available to agencies/organisations/individuals who are keen to improve their knowledge and understanding and practise their skills to manage a conversation with someone with suicidality. Hampshire County Council advertise details of their open-access training on the Mental Wellbeing Hampshire site Mental Health Practitioners | Health and social care | Hampshire County Council (hants.gov.uk) .

There are currently two courses (more to follow) with spaces available and details of these are available below:

  • 14/12/2021 Suicide First Aid Lite is a three and a half hour course exploring the theory and practise of suicide prevention skills: Register here
  • 08/02/2022 Suicide First Aid: Understanding Suicide Intervention is a full day course teaching suicide prevention skills: Register here

Only book on to one of these courses only if you are certain you are able to attend. The courses are fully funded by Public Health Hampshire and are very popular.
