CHIE Update

Have you registered to use, and are you using CHIE?

CHIE was made available to all community pharmacists across Hampshire and Isle of Wight in February (both employed and locums). If you haven’t yet registered to use, details on how to do so are here:

Pharmacy feedback on using CHIE:

Yesterday we suffered an internet outage and were not able to access the spine and download any prescriptions.. As the internet was out, we could not access the SCR either. Fortunately, we have wifi through a separate provider and so were able to still access the internet. This is where CHIE absolutely saved us. We were able to access the CHIE with patient consent to see their medical records and see any recently prescribed items. We were incredibly grateful, as were the patients that we were still able to operate an urgent only service thanks to CHIE.”

"CHIE has been very helpful on the occasions when it has been necessary to access a patient record. Being able to see more than just their medication "

“With blister pack patients, the surgery doesn’t often inform us of any changes. For example, if I have spotted a medication is missing from a script, I have been able to log in and quickly clarify that it's been stopped and taken off repeat rather than having been missed by mistake. This saves a lot of time in the pharmacy and surgery as I don't have to call/email to check.”
