Cervical Screening Saves Lives campaign launching on 5 March 2019

A heads up on this important health campaign
The NHS Cervical Screening Programme has made a significant impact on cervical cancer mortality since it was established in 1988, saving an estimated 5,000 lives a year, however, coverage is at a 20-year low
A new PHE campaign Cervical Screening Saves Lives, supported by the NHS aims to reverse this trend and save lives by reminding eligible women “Don’t ignore your cervical screening invite. If you’ve missed your last cervical screening, book an appointment with your GP practice now.” |
Support the campaign
The campaign aims to highlight the risks of cervical cancer as well as the preventative benefits of the screening test. PHE will be encouraging all eligible women (25 – 64 years) with a focus on younger women (25 – 35 years) and smaller sub-groups such as BAME and LGBT, to respond to screening invitations and would welcome your support
Dr Dawn Harper has produced a video specifically for Health Care Professionals highlighting the cervical screening campaign, which you can watch on the PHE overview page
